Midget Rally?

Here is an idea that would be great for those who can offer children a place to go one afternoon each week after school. You could charge $1 per person per session, which would cover any costs. A wonderful way to enlarge your potential Rally base, or as a separate programme. Morrinsville also offers this because there are children very keen to go to Rally, but they are still too young.

What is Midget Rally?

Well, this is a group of boys & girls aged 5-7 years who are too young to attend our Boys or Girls Rally at Morrinsville.

  • We meet once a week for an hour at our local church on a Tuesday afternoon from 3:30pm – 4:30 pm.
  • We provide a biscuit and drink for the children on arrival and usually the children then race around burning off energy for the first 5 minutes before starting the programme.
  • We start with an activity that fits in with our Bible story, eg. Peter walks on water – we may get out the paddling pool with toy boats and people.
  • Some children can even guess what the Bible story is about based on the activity we are doing! After the activity we move into story time. Then the last activity is colouring a picture or making something eg. a paper boat.
  • They are also given a Bible Verse that fits the lesson and they are encouraged to learn it each week.
  • We have a prize box that is filled with little toys, rubbers, books, pencils etc from the Christian bookshop, and this works as a great incentive, as the children love choosing something from the box!
  • Once a child turns 8, then we encourage them to attend a Rally in the District bwhere they can start earning badges as well.
  • At present we have 14 children in attendance with 2 leaders – Virginia Bradley (Leader in charge) & Becky Palmer.
