You will need a long rope. Have all the members lined up holding onto the rope from alternate sides. A leader MUST be in the front! Have other leaders spaced along the rope. A leader should also be at the end. This is best done in the dark outside. The leader walks along, around obstacles, maybe under something or over it etc. You MUST go slowly and listen for the leader at the end to call out stop. The leader at the back may have to pull hard to slow things down or even let go of the rope. They need to yell ‘stop’ if this is the case. This may be necessary as those on the end of the rope sometimes get caught – eg. going between 2 see- saws you will then veer off to one side. The rope also goes to the side so those behind end up clambering over the see saw, not between them as you did. Be conscious of members stumbling over obstacles – you are in front and can see them – they can’t. This activity needs care but is huge fun.
Options: If this is done in daylight, have blindfolds available for everyone.
